The school bell rings this morning all across South Florida, after a two-day delay thanks to Tropical Storm Fay.

The first day of the 2008-2009 school year was supposed to be Monday, but Fay had something to say about that.

Instead, more than 341,000 students will head back to school today in Miami-Dade, and more than 260,000 in Broward Counties.

Those numbers represent a decline in enrollment over the past few years, but 11 new schools are opening in Miami-Dade.

In Broward, which is the nation's 5th largest school district, much attention has been paid to the newest high school...West Broward...in Pembroke Pines.
